The 10G-FAN-B is supplied with these Myri-10G switch enclosures:
and is also available separately for replacements as a field-replaceable unit (FRU). Each 10G-FAN-B contains two 120mm fans operating in series for efficiency and redundancy, together with a fan monitoring and control board (to the right of the fan on the inside view above). The fans provide tachometer outputs to the monitoring and control board. The connector on the monitoring and control board provides power and a serial link to the 10G-MONITOR-B monitoring card in the enclosure. The microcontroller and other circuitry on this circuit board can adjust the fan speed according to temperature measurements within the enclosure, and reports the M3-FAN-B status through the serial link.

Physical characteristics: Dimensions: 7.25 inches (184mm) high by 9 inches (228.6mm) wide by 5.5 inches (139.7mm) deep. Weight: 3.75 pounds (1.7 kg).
Environmental limits: Operating: Temperature 15C to 50C (inlet air) up to 10,000 foot altitude. Relative humidity 15% to 80% @ 50C, non-condensing. Storage: Temperature -40C to 70C. Relative humidity 90% @ 65C.
Power requirements: +12VDC input power. Maximum power used is 40W (3.3A @ 12V).
Hot swap: The 10G-FAN unit can be hot-swapped, but with two precautions: (1) Do not reach your hand inside the enclosure due to energy hazards from the primary power buses, and (2) Do not operate the switch for more than one minute with a fan removed, because automatic line-card shutdowns due to an over-temperature condition may occur.
Regulatory Approvals: When properly installed in Myricom 10G-21U-CLOS-ENCL, 10G-21U-EDGE-ENCL, 10G-12U-CLOS-ENCL, 10G-12U-EDGE-ENCL, 10G-7U-CLOS-ENCL, or 10G-7U-EDGE-ENCL enclosures, the 10G-FAN-B units are fully compliant with EN55024 (1998 w/A1: 2001 & A2: 2003), EN55022 (1998) Class A, AS/NZS 3548 (1005 W/A1 & A2: 97) Class A, CISPR 22 (1997) Class A, FCC Part 15 Subpart B Section 15.109 Class A, VCCI (April 2000) Class A, & ICES-003 Class A (ANSI C63.4 1992).
